St. Joseph Bay is teeming with marine life. Wade out and try your luck at some redfish and speckled trout, or venture further out for some fantastic offshore fishing. There are several charter boat companies with local guides familiar with the waters and who can get you on the fish - red snapper, grouper, mahi-mahi, wahoo, mackerel....and the list goes on.
From July to
mid-September, scallop enthusiasts flock to St. Joseph Bay to to hunt
these delicacies. The most common way to scallop is to snorkel over the
seagrass beds and pick up the scallops from the bottom of the bay. Bay
scallops, although smaller than sea scallops, are absolutely delicious!
Snorkeling will also open up the view to a whole different undersea
world - unlike anything you've ever experienced. You'll be amazed by the
marine life. The seagrass provides a safe environment for fish,
seahorses, starfish, crabs, conchs and more.
